The Gasthaus Alt-Fürstenwald is located in the heart of Ahnatal / Fürstenwald in a rural area. Kassel-Calden Airport is also nearby. But that shouldn't be of interest to the majority of people who read this. We were here in the evenings, following a recommendation, to eat with four people. The inn is cozy and still offers space for small family celebrations. Despite Corona, the location was well filled while observing the applicable distance rules. The menu is characterized by home-style cooking. There are schnitzel and steaks in many variations. An extensive menu with salads is also available. The menu is not overloaded, so you could expect a certain freshness and good quality of the food. That's exactly what we found on our plates. The portions are generous. People around the age of 50 will also be satisfied with the small and reduced-price portions on offer. The schnitzels are of good quality, not pounded to the nearest millimeter, but still tender. The sauces are homemade, as the rest of the people at the table could confirm. The bill was also reasonable. I probably wouldn't have come here without a recommendation. But now we will definitely come back.

Cozy restaurant, nice service. Schnitzel are quite big, price performance optimal. Schmandsoße unfortunately not typical Hessian, onions and bacon were missing, but still delicious.
